A broad introduction to contemporary biology, from the way cells, organs and individual organisms function, through to molecular biology, genetics, micro- and macroevolution and the processes underlying the diversity of life and ecosystems.
Learning Outcomes
- to learn about the basic principles of cellular activities;
- to understand the basics of the mechanism of inheritance;
- to gain an appreciation of the relationship between structure and function of cells and cellular organelles in living organisms;
- to understand the basics of ecology and micro- and macroevolutionary biology.
| Assumed Knowledge: | Students enrolling in this subject should have a good understanding of Chemistry, Mathematics and English to Grade 12 (Queensland) or equivalents. Students without high school chemistry should have completed CH1020. |
