BU4062 is specifically designed for students who plan to do research of their own and/or who are interested in contemporary research issues in Business. It is structured around a series of staff seminars and is designed to add to students' general view of research in the School of Business whilst also allowing individual students to 'specialise' developing detailed awareness and knowledge of contemporary issues within a specific discipline. The staff seminars will be based on current research projects, so topics will change each year.
Learning Outcomes
- Have a broad awareness of current research issues in business, including different topics, methodological approaches, and applications / interpretations of ideas;
- Have gained some discipline-specific knowledge, acquired through the research seminars and through scholarly journals;
- Have increased 'journal literacy', and more refined oral and written presentation skills;
- Have some perspective on the way in which discipline-specific research fits into a broader research agenda;
- Have a good understanding of how to turn an interesting idea, into a research project/proposal.
