Credit points: 03
Year: 2015
Student Contribution Band: Band 3
Administered by: College of Business, Law & Governance

Tourism is a global economic activity that occurs within complex socio-cultural, political and operational systems. The aim of this course organising subject is to enhance student awareness of these complex and dynamic tourism systems and to analyse these systems within a Pressure-State-Response framework. The subject will explore the forces that create, sustain, shape and limit tourism. It will then link these pressures to the nature of tourism organisations and their operations before analysing how tourism enterprises respond to these forces. A substantial focus of the subject will be on cross-disciplinary approaches to the analysis of tourism systems to enhance their sustainability.
