This subject will equip students with further skills in the application of cognitive behavioural and behavioural therapeutic methods. Topics will include issues relevant to the practice of psychology in rural and remote regions of Australia, as well as approaches to the treatment of more complex disorders such as addictions, co-morbid conditions and psychosis.

Learning Outcomes

• To acquire knowledge of a range of empirically validated interventions for psychological disorders, complex presentations and integrated case formulation;
• To demonstrate competent use of evidence based therapeutic techniques through role plays and skills demonstrated;
• To increase knowledge about issues affecting physical and mental health of people living in rural/remote regions;
• To display an increased awareness of cultural issues relevant to the practice of psychology across cultures;
• Demonstrated ability to research the relevant literature to substantiate the use of particular evidence based therapies.
