In this subject students will build on knowledge gained in Clinical Nursing Practice 3. They will continue to learn about pathophysiological processes which may affect patients throughout their lifespan. Related medical-surgical nursing skills and professional development will be addressed. Problem-solving skills are emphasised so that students can appropriately, systematically and expeditiously assess a client's functional health status and assist the client to meet his/her functional health care needs.
Learning Outcomes
- develop assessment skills and institute nursing management to provide safe and effective nursing care to patients with specific dysfunction;
- discuss the clinical aspects of treatment practices for the patient who is experiencing an alteration in functional health status;
- integrate theoretical and practical knowledge into clinical practice;
- identify various methods of managing nursing care (eg team, task and total patient care);
- utilise evidence based information for nursing practice.
