Broad overview of management issues pertaining to a Medical Laboratory. Human resource and cost management: Professional utilisation and development of workforce.Operational issues: Range of testing equipment available: modes of operation maintenance and servicing. Interfaces to laboratory information systems.Quality assurance/quality management: Sample identification and preparation. Quality control. Medico legal considerations. ISO guideline and NATA accreditation.
Learning Outcomes
- knowledge of issues of human and capital resource management for medical laboratories;
- knowledge of issues of pre, post and analytical quality assurance;
- understanding of NATA accreditation process for medical testing;
- working knowledge of laboratory information systems.
