This subject provides a critical appreciation of the historical development of the discipline of history from antiquity to the present day. It explores a diversity of ways in which the past has been apprehended and understood across a range of temporal and cultural contexts.
Learning Outcomes
- to acquire an understanding of key theoretical and methodological debates that have shaped the evolution of historical scholarship;
- to develop skills of research and analysis appropriate to the honours level of study;
- to gain familiarity with the historical development of the discipline of history.
