This subject examines the evolution of the liberal representative democratic system with particular reference to its global spread through imperialism, the breakdown of European colonial empires, and its adaptation to suit local conditions in India, Ghana and the U.S.A.

Learning Outcomes

• An understanding of how historians research and write;
• An understanding of historical issues and problems that have affected the development of modern society in an international context;
• An understanding of adaptations of political systems to suit local needs and conditions.
