This subject extends and deepens student knowledge and competencies with core counselling microskills developed in ED5863 Foundations of Counselling Practice. The integration of the microskills hierarchy from different theoretical and multicultural perspectives will be explored and the ethical responsibilities within the counselling profession will be addressed. The core microskills used in interviewing and counselling will be again practiced in simulated counselling sessions with students comparing their final counselling skills with their earlier counselling session from ED5863 and critically reflecting on the students' development as a counsellor.

    Assessment:counselling videos with one written analysis and one reflection (40%); portfolio of competence (30%); pecha kucha presentation synthesising portfolio of competence learnings. (a pechakucha 20x20 is a simple format (e.g., powerpoint) where you show 20 images, each for 20 seconds (6 mintues and 40 seconds in total). the images advance automatically with you talking along to the slides, synthesise your learnings (chapetr 9-16)) (30%).
    Special Assessment Requirements:Successful completion of Oral Presentation (Professional Oracy and Professional Literacy)
