This subject introduces students to the <i>National Quality Framework including the National Quality Standard, National Law and Regulations and the Early Years Learning Framework</i>. Taking a play-based approach, early childhood pedagogy, principles and practice are explored in relation to documenting and planning for further learning of young children. Ten (10) full days of professional experience in a prior to school setting with children aged from 0 to 2 years will offer students the opportunity to link theoretical learning to classroom practice. (Note: the 10 days professional experience is spread over 10 weeks; that is, 1 day per week)
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the <i> National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education </i>, including National Quality Standard, National Law and Regulations and the <i> Early Years Learning Framework </i>.;
- Develop and apply skills in creativng a Situational Analysis; documenting and assessing children's learning; and planning for further learning;
- Develop and understanding of a play-based approach to early chldhood pedaboby;
- Demonstrate Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at a 'developed' level.
Assumed Knowledge: | Assumed knowledge in this subject includes an understanding of the development of the young child in terms of physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language development as studied in ED1481:03 Foundations of Educational Psychology. |
