Introduced in this subject are Content Management Systems (CMS) and their different digital publishing channels (Web and mobile) and platforms (e.g., Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla, etc). Students will review CMS tools and technologies and evaluate their implications to organisational management, commerce, human resource management and marketing. Students will gain hands-on experience for developing interactive media for the web that will include markup languages, designing and developing effective web interfaces, usability issues, incorporating graphics, audio and animation into web sites, web development and scripting using contemporary multimedia development tools.
Learning Outcomes
- appraise the role of content management technologies to acquire, organise and present web content;
- assess methods, tools and applications for content management;
- assess the knowledge cycle: acquisition, storing, application and maintenance;
- create and deploy websites using content management systems, including creating and editing content, adding functionality, and creating custom templates and themes;
- examine ongoing maintenance considerations with content management system websites.
