This subject develops specific theoretical and practical leadership and management skills required by healthcare industry staff in developing countries. The knowledge gained will include information about: workforce management; resource management; migration of staff out (brain drain) to developing countries.
Learning Outcomes
- synthesise the underlying principles and concepts of leadership and management practices in relation to establishing results-focused organisational culture;
- apply critical thinking in order to critique and apply a template for a business case to be used to ask management to consider a workplace change;
- analyse the core professional leadership and management obligations that are essential for the management of organisational resources, including workforce resources;
- demonstrate the ability to explain the concept of diversity and its influence on health service delivery;
- demonstrate an awareness of how corporate management systems support health service organisations to provide quality safe care and services.
