This subject builds upon the theory and practices previously introduced with a focus on finding a personal approach for integrating image with text for visual communication. A combination of contemporary digital processes and historical approaches, devices and techniques will be examined with the aim of revitalising traditional processes involved with book arts with fresh ways for projecting meaning. These explorations will be addressed by lectures, critiques, demonstrations of techniques, practical workshops and set projects.
Learning Outcomes
- an understanding of historical book arts practices and their application in contemporary practice;
- knowledge of current practices in integrating image and text;
- technical skills in applying theory to practice;
- a rationalised personal approach for integrating image and text.
