This subject introduces the basic elements of design, typography and effective visualisation and communication, thereby providing students with basic design skills in the area of visual communication design. Students use a range of digital tools to develop visual communication iconography and produce a corporate design system. Design history, design methods and contemporary practice are introduced through a team-based investigative research project.
Learning Outcomes
- use the appropriate language of visual communication;
- critique individual design projects for their aesthetic and functional effectiveness;
- explain the relationship between design elements and effective visualisation and communication;
- apply the fundamental principles of media design.
