Radio documentaries are long non-fictional audio stories, which in this subject students learn to produce in various formats, from traditional journalistic investigation and reporting employed to explore an issue in depth, to innovative formats which mix commentary, sound pictures and other kinds of audio art. This subject hones advanced interviewing techniques, scripting, sound gathering and technical skills, including command of the advanced features of NewsBoss, to professional level. We put considerable emphasis on developing a "broadcast voice" through advanced voice training, and expect all students to produce professional-standard content for the JCU digital media platform.
Learning Outcomes
- development of advanced skills in producing longer, in depth radio documentaries;
- advanced familiarity with the technical aspects of radio production and presentation;
- advanced understanding of audio techniques employed by radio documentary makers.
