Available to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Health Professional Education, Postgraduate Diploma of Rural and Remote Medicine, Master of Rural and Remote Medicine, Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master of Nursing or by permission of the Subject or Course Coordinator or Head of School.

This subject will focus on specific strategies related to clinical teaching for health professionals. The topics include the components of the clinical learning cycle, how learning is facilitated through clinical practice and how reflective practice can be incorporated in clinical learning.

Learning Outcomes

• Demonstrate the processes and strategies involved in developing and implementing a successful procedural skills teaching session;
• Plan and implement a series of one minute preceptor teaching sessions including question generation and analysis;
• Explain the factors associated with successful teaching and learning opportunities and outcomes in a clinical context;
• Evaluate and critique different clinical teaching strategies and approaches.
