Available to students enrolled in the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma and Master of Health Professional Education, Postgraduate Diploma of Rural and Remote Medicine, Master of Rural and Remote Medicine or the Postgraduate certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or Master of Nursing or by permission of the Subject or Course Coordinator or Head of School.

This subject will focus on educational theory such as educational psychology, adult learning principles, factors which influence learning and the setting up of a learning environment.

Learning Outcomes

• recognise and manage learner characteristics in the health professions;
• Critique and apply educational theories to their own learning through an understanding of concepts, models and strategies for learning;
• Demonstrate the processes involved in developing a successful lesson including writing a plan, learner background, resources and writing questions through proposal writing, reviewing the literature, budgeting, designing methodologies, project management, data analysis and write-up;
• Describe the factors associated with evaluating teaching and learning opportunities and outcomes.
