This subject addresses principles and practices related to teaching and learning in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences Education (HSSE) and Technology within primary and middle school. The subject will develop pre-service teachers' competence in planning, implementing and assessing environmental and social inquiries that position students as agents for change. The subject will equip pre-service teachers with a repertoire of strategies to promote students' capacity to ask important questions; collect, validate and analyse data; and arrive at well-reasoned conclusions and sustainable courses of action. The subject will consolidate pre-service teachers' own knowledge and understanding of socio-ecological systems and processes with a view to inspire them to educate for local and global sustainability.
