Available as a core subject for third year Early Childhood Education students.
This subject focuses on the philosophical, historical, political, social and economic factors that have impacted on the evolution, current situation and future directions of early childhood education and care in Australia. It also addresses topics of professional significance to the early childhood educator with a particular focus on the early years of school.
Learning Outcomes
- develop an understanding of the philosophical, historical, political, social and economic background, current situation and future direction of early childhood policy, programs and services in Australia;
- critically examine professional issues relating to the planning and implementation of early childhood education;
- demonstrate Australian Professional Standards for Teachers at a Developed level.
Assumed Knowledge: | It is assumed that you have successfully completed ED2590 - Early Childhood Education and Care 1, and that you are familiar with child development theory, the Early Years Learning Framework, the Australian Curriculum and other national and state policies regarding early childhood education. |
