This subject focuses on the philosophical, historical, political, social and economic factors that have impacted on the evolution, current situation and future directions of early childhood education and care in Australia. It also addresses topics of professional significance to the early childhood educator with a particular focus on the early years of school.

It is assumed that you have successfully completed ED2590 - Early Childhood Education and Care 1, and that you are familiar with child development theory, the Early Years Learning Framework, the Australian Curriculum and other national and state policies regarding early childhood education.
Prerequisites:6 credit points of level 2 ED subjects
