This subject is an introduction to teaching Arts Education in Early Childhood settings, up to Year 3. It will explore the five (5) arts genres essential to the Australian Curriculum - Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Visual Arts. It will focus on developing knowledge, pedagogy and skills, through Making, and Responding to Art. Students will have opportunities to develop and share strategies to help children explore creative expression. As both artists and audience members, they will respond to, analyse and interpret various styles of visual and performing arts. They will develop resources for classroom teaching, and knowledge with which to promote the arts throughout schools and school communities. The subject will be informed by the emerging Australian Curriculum: The Arts Foundation to Year 10.
