This "capstone" subject consolidates the knowledge and skills previously acquired in undergraduate and postgraduate studies in criminal and social justice policy and contemporary criminology. Students prepare a written report and presentation that brings together various strands of social and criminal justice theory and policy relating to issues of concern in North Queensland, or in the tropics generally. Field research is not a requirement of this subject.
Learning Outcomes
- apply these skills to the analysis of specific case studies " demonstrate a critical understanding of contemporary issues in criminology; the social problems, including crime and deviance; " to provide students with opportunities to debate the strengths and weaknesses of various criminal justice systems and other public policies relevant to crime, criminal justice and social justice; formulate independent critical ideas and arguments.
Prerequisites: | Students must have completed at least 12 credit points of level 5 CY subjects. |
