This subject introduces students to a range of principles, terminology, and technologies used for digital image manipulation. Areas to be examined will include the use of computer hardware and peripherals such as input and capture devices along with mass storage options and the operation of software used for digital image manipulation. Students will be introduced to the ethical and moral debates associated with digital image manipulation and producer / consumer media distribution.
Learning Outcomes
- create original digital images, through a process of research, capture and finally output;
- demonstrate knowledge of a range of digital imaging principles and terminology;
- demonstrate skill using a range of digital equipment such as scanners and cameras and software used in digital image acquisition and manipulation;
- describe the aims of creative work in a written format;
- demonstrate the role of presentation software.
