This subject will introduce students to the ways in which organisations and businesses use the Internet and emerging technologies in business activities. Concepts and features of e-business and m-business technologies will be presented. The nature of core e-business and m-business activities will be discussed. Topics covered are technology infrastructure, business models, security challenges, legal and ethical issues, trends, and case studies for e-business/m-business.
Learning Outcomes
- Be able to identify and understand different web- based interfaces, including online auctions, virtual communities and web portals;
- Be able to describe revenue models, web-based marketing and business-to-business (B2B) strategies;
- Be able to describe infrastructure, hardware and software supports for e-Business;
- Be able to define and plan solutions for e-Business;
- Be aware and understand the various security, legal, ethical and tax issues related to e-Business.
| Assumed Knowledge: | Students are expected to understand the basics of computer hardware and software, as well as understand the fundamental concepts in data communications and the Internet. |
