This subject introduces students to networking standards, architectures, and technologies with a specific focus on network devices, network models, and network protocols. Students will gain an understanding of subnetting, TCP/IP, switching, routing, WAN protocols, and network security. Students will gain hands-on experience in network design and configuration of Cisco network devices.
Learning Outcomes
- use the OSI and TCP/IT models to describe communications in LAN and WAN environments;
- use access lists to implement network security;
- design and configure a network with appropriate devices and protocols.
Assumed Knowledge: | This is not an introductory subject. Students would be advised to have successfully completed IT at high school or CP1030 at JCU |
