This subject comprises a 100 hour laboratory research project conducted in a structured manner in one of the research laboratories of the chemistry staff, and provides students with the opportunity to further improve and expand their practical skills. Students will acquire further skills required by the professional or research chemist - including accessing and utilising the chemical literature, safety in the laboratory (including completing risk assessments). Students are required to give a seminar presentation and write a scientific report on their work .
Learning Outcomes
- To provide students with enhanced practical skills;
- To further develop generic skills required by the professional research chemist.
