Except with the approval of the Head of School or Faculty Registrar, all subjects in a chain must be studied in consecutive teaching periods.
Honours projects are individual, supervised analyses of topics relevant to specific areas of business. The thesis will normally be completed and submitted by mid-October and will be of the order of 12,000-15,000 words. BU4070 provides the groundwork on the thesis topic for the larger thesis subject BU4071. It consists of preparing a research proposal with the aid of a supervisor on a contemporary topic from within the disciplines of the School of Business.
Learning Outcomes
- provide a focus for students so that they can integrate material from other subjects in one specific setting;
- provide students with the opportunity to develop a substantial piece of work on a topic of special interest to them;
- develop objective research skills to dissect, analyse and appraise one facet pertaining to the School of Business without bias or favour;
- deepen students understanding of one particular facet pertaining to the School of Business by a concentration on one setting with more sustained attention than is required in essays, practicals etc.
