Following the elucidation of the complete genome of a number of different organisms the study of the function and regulation of individual genes has taken on greater significance. These lectures describe the diverse mechanisms of regulation in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes and the techniques used to study them. The lectures also describe how different cells differentiate and develop and introduces the molecular and genetic bases of embryology, immunology and cancer. The subject also includes a literature review and the presentation of a research proposal.
