This subject presents technical and conceptual information to assist students to create a series of original paintings, including preparation of materials for painting, application of acrylic paints, information about composition, the principles and elements of design, perspective, symbolism and colour relationships. Class tasks enable students to explore a diverse range of painting styles and techniques. Information about 19th and 20th century painting is examined.

    Assessment:presentations (20%); creative work completed in class (50%); reflective tasks (30%).
    Special Assessment Requirements:In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer.
