This subject is only available to currently enrolled Bachelor of Creative Industries students who have already completed TH1720.

This subject introduces the student to the specifics of acting as a creative art and to the language of acting and provides them with an understanding of some fundamental acting skills. Students will participate in a series of exercises, improvisations and interactions with partners, learning the essential acting skills such as relaxation, attention and concentration, truth and belief. Students will also work with selected texts.

Learning Outcomes

• the ability to explore the physical properties of texts through movement and improvisation;
• basic skills of acting for theatre;
• the capacity to contribute to performance text-based discussions;
• skills in making, shaping and re-making dramatic action within the group dynamic and applying these skills towards performance texts;
• the ability to lead a seminar on selected Meisner acting techniques and exercises.
