Available to level 2 sport and exercise science students, physical education students and other students as approved by the Director of the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science.
This subject is designed to provide the skills and knowledge necessary for effective evaluation of fitness and health in laboratory and field settings. Further, this subject is designed to examine the beneficial effects of exercise and sport on health, chronic conditions and disease.
Learning Outcomes
- to demonstrate an ability to construct and administer testing sessions;
- to demonstrate an understanding of several human chronic conditions and diseases;
- to demonstrate familiarity with testing procedures of fitness and health for all populations;
- to interpret results of fitness and health assessments and advise on the health benefits of exercise and sport to all populations;
- interpret results of fitness and health assessments and advise/prescribe exercise to enhance the health benefits of exercise and sport to all populations including young, adult and elderly, with and without disease/conditions.
