This subject aims to extend the knowledge gained in PY2104. The focus in the subject will be upon health psychology at a public health level rather than at the level of the individual. Taking a health promotion perspective, topics covered will include factors contributing to chronic disease and the social determinants of health. Particular attention will be paid to the differential impact such factors have upon different population groups, for example children and indigenous Australians. Students will also be instructed in the use and meaning of basic epidemiological terms.
