Enrolment in this subject is restricted to students enrolled in Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Physiotherapy IHCAP Program and the Bachelor of Physiotherapy Honours Program.

The subject will present an overview of the history of the physiotherapy profession along with issues relating to evidence-based practice. Research and literature search skills will be developed. Students will gain foundation knowledge and skills in the application of selected physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques. These include massage, application of heat, ice and wax, exercise prescription and joint examination.

  • 24 hours lectures - 2 hour/week
  • 44 hours practicals - Two 2-hour practicals/week
    Assessment:end of semester exam (50%); other exams (30%); assignments (20%).
    Special Assessment Requirements:Students will be required to achieve a pass grade in the practical and written examinations in order to pass the subject. Students will also be required to complete ePortfolio items as described in the subject outline in order to pass this subject. No marks are allotted to the ePortfolio items.
