This subject enables students to undertake clinical practice in a selected clinical setting in order to develop their knowledge and skills at the level of the nurse practitioner. Students will practice with the guidance of academic and clinical mentors. In particular, students will develop an understanding of the scope of practice for nurse practitioners, and be able to provide evidence of its development.

Learning Outcomes

• critically reflect on clinical skills and competencies for advanced and extended clinical practice;
• evaluate areas of practice, clinical skill and clinical competence for improvement or enhancement;
• further develop collaborative professional relationships within the multidisciplinary team;
• utilise an in-depth body of knowledge related to clinical skills and clinical competencies in a selected specialist field;
• demonstrate independent and collaborative advanced and extended practice relevant to specialist nursing area, and provide evidence of achievement of NP Competency Standards.

NS5901 and NS5902 and NS5921 and NS5905 and allow concurrent for NS5901 and NS5902
