This subject prepares midwives to prescribe safely, appropriately and cost-effectively as an independent/supplementary prescriber and to meet the standards set by the local, State and Federal legislation in relation to midwifery practice.

Learning Outcomes

• undertake a thorough history, including medication history and current medication (including over-the-counter, alternative and complementary health therapies) to inform diagnosis, understand and apply the relevant legislation to the practice of midwife prescribing.
