This subject covers the theoretical foundations of working with the community, such as applied primary health care, epidemiology, and health care systems. It guides students through the process of community assessment, and program planning and evaluation. It also applies the principles of health promotion to a number of vulnerable populations.
Learning Outcomes
- outline the link between the Primary Health Care Movement and contemporary community health;
- apply demographic and epidemiological principles to community health;
- define cultural competence in the context of community nursing and care;
- transfer theoretical concepts in community health to various vulnerable populations and across the lifespan;
- describe contemporary quality and safety processes for community nursing and care.
