Students explore and examine the unique application of the basic principles of music production as displayed by various cultural practices across the old and new worlds. This subject will incorporate an optional field trip which may include international experiences and investigations.

Learning Outcomes

• an understanding of various ethnic and aesthetic issues involved in cultural music production;
• demonstrated abilities in analysing music of various cultures both within the tradition and contemporary contexts;
• established ethical and non-intrusive research skills within in culturally sensitive environments.
