This subject examines the dynamics of public interest and multi-party conflicts and the process choices for managing them. The subject addresses multi-party disputes from the perspective of participants, mediators and facilitators. The subject covers process design, process management, and skills for facilitating multi-party communication.
Learning Outcomes
- describe management and organisational science, as well as group facilitation theory;
- explain contemporary models of conflict resolution when there are numerous parties to a conflict or dispute, distinguish characteristics of groups in conflict and analyse particular behaviours of difficult groups;
- discover techniques and skills to facilitate group discussions;
- develop a range of problem-solving techniques and skills to effectively design, manage, implement and evaluate the resolution of conflicts with multiple parties;
- consider different perspectives of a conflict situation and assess how facilitators can assist individuals and groups to interact more effectively.
