This subject examines contested meanings of sustainability; integrated models of sustainability (economic, environmental, social and cultural); the growth of the sustainability movement; measuring sustainability (metrics and management); sustainability as seen through the ecoadvantage model - that is how enterprises can build returns, reduce costs, limit risks and build reputations; international and cross-cultural perspectives on sustainability; how to change and foster good corporate sustainable practices and issues in the communication of sustainability.
Learning Outcomes
- understand relationships between sustainability, government policies and enterprise strategies;
- understand contemporary approaches to measuring and reporting the outcomes of enterprise sustainability strategies;
- recognise and understand the linkages between sustainability, value creation, risk and effective use of global resources;
- understand and critically evaluate sustainability and sustainable development concepts and issues.
