Implement the proposal for a small scale research project developed in ED5094. The research should be conducted and written up independently, with guidance and advice from the supervisor. The dissertation should be approximately 10-12,000 words. It should clearly define a topic, provide a rationale, set the proposed research in context of appropriate literature, describe methods for generating, gathering and/or analysing research data and discuss methodological issues associated with those methods. It should present the data generated as part of the research project, and a discussion of that data, in an appropriate format. It should draw conclusions and implications from the research (including as appropriate, implications for theory, practice and further research), relate findings and conclusions to relevant literature, and offer a critical estimate of the significance and limitations of the research.
Learning Outcomes
- a working knowledge of appropriate reserach methods;
- an ability to identify different reserach traditions and relate specific research (including your dissertation) to them;
- a capacity to generate and anlayse data in relation to a topic, issue or questions for research;
- a capacity to write up results of research in an extended research paper.
