Available only to students enrolled in a Bachelor of Education. Note: some lectures for the Cairns offering of this subject are delivered on-line through LearnJCU and requires students to have access to the World Wide Web for participation in the subject.
The focus of this subject will be the development of research informed practice to support productive and engaging learning in secondary settings. Specifically, students will develop and articulate a framework for their own pedagogy and focus on the diverse needs of learners in secondary settings, particularly the needs of learners in middle schooling. Students will develop a repertoire of literacy and numeracy teaching strategies to support diverse learner needs. In addition, there will be a focus on developing a framework for ensuring a supportive classroom environment as well as developing a repertoire of assessment strategies. Students are required to undertake five (5) days of professional experience.
