This subject is a broad introduction to computer programming. A number of themes are explored including procedural programming, object-oriented programming, the fundamental elements and concepts of programming, problem solving techniques using algorithmic development, and GUI programming skills.
Learning Outcomes
- understand the behaviour of simple programs, involving the fundamental programming constructs;
- appreciate the methods and concepts required to program a computer program;
- apply problem solving techniques such as divide and conquer, and recursion;
- develop a basic knowledge of GUI programming and event-handling.
