Introduction to the diversity of plants and animals including evolution and classification of groups. Includes laboratory studies of form.

Learning Outcomes

• develop the vital basic knowledge required for understanding scientific principles of plant and animal biology and their application in more advanced and specialised studies;
• acquire hands-on practical skills in botany and zoology identification of plants and animals;
• to acquire proficiency in observation, recording, evaluation and reporting of scientific information.

Assumed Knowledge:	Students enrolling in this subject should have a good understanding of Chemistry, Mathematics and English to Grade 12 (Queensland) or equivalent. Students without chemistry and mathematics must complete CH1020 and MA1020 in first year.
