BX3171 - Organisational Behaviour

Credit points: 03
Year: 2013
Student Contribution Band: Band 3
Administered by: School of Business

Organisational Behaviour complements management subjects and is the theoretical foundation for the function and practice of the management of human resources. It is concerned with how and why people perform as individuals and in groups, in different structures and cultures within the social arrangements for pursuing collective goals called organisations. It introduces the concepts and theories of behaviour in organisations that have been formulated in the social, psychological and medical sciences. In general, it examines diversity, ethics, and authority, power and conflict, and the issues and stresses that arise from them. In particular, it examines the individual attitudes, personalities, perceptions and motivations, and the group dynamics of teamwork, communication and leadership, all within the context of restructuring, change and development. Organisational Behaviour includes behaviours that are related to an organisation's tropical location, its commitment to sustainable production and conservation, and its indigenous membership.
