In addition to completion of 36 credit points of BU or BX subjects and enrolled in your last year of your course, students wishing to undertake the independent project subject must enrol in the Independent Project Work Group located on Career Hub. To gain access and enrol in the Work Group send an email to karina.lynch@jcu.edu.au. Career Hub https://careerhub.jcu.edu.au. Use your jc user name and password to log onto the site. The Work Group you are enrolled in will be listed on the left hand column of the Career Hub Home page under Appointments and ePortfolio. The application form on the site must be completed no later than four (4) weeks prior to the commencement of the study period including an outline of the intended project. If accepted into the subject an Independent Study Agreement (ISA) with deadlines for the various stages of the project must be signed by the student and subject co-ordinator. This process only applies to students enrolled on the Townsville or Cairns campus.
This subject is designed primarily for students already employed in a workplace to develop an independent project for the workplace / industry. Students will be required to prepare a project proposal (which would require subject coordinator/lecturer approval) and to complete a project relevant to their degree and workplace. The proposal would be required to demonstrate how the project assists in developing/improving workplace skills; address an industry issue and contribute to industry.
