This subject provides an introduction to financial management and financial analysis techniques. Topics include short-term financial management, the time value of money, capital budgeting, cost of capital, risk and return and capital structure.

Learning Outcomes

• develop disciplinary specific knowledge and computational ability in selected topics, including: short term financial management; valuation involving time, risk and cash flows; capital budgeting; long term financing and derivatives;
• develop an understanding of the logic of financial decision making as an integrating theme;
• self-identify misconceptions and common mistakes in financial management;
• acquire life-long learning skills through reflecting on the effectiveness of learning activities and performance in assessment.
