This subject introduces students to a range of technical and expressive drawing skills. Students explore numerous materials and means of mark making. Perspective, tonal contrast and drawing conventions are examined along with a survey of extant drawings from a range of cultures and contexts.

    Assessment:practical tasks completed in class (20%); reflective tasks (30%); creative work completed in class (50%).
    Special Assessment Requirements:In order to establish the authenticity of work submitted for assessment, attendance at practical classes is compulsory. Rolls are kept and work submitted by students with an attendance of less than 80% will not be eligible for assessment unless prior approval has been obtained in writing from the lecturer.
