This subject examines the treatment of children in the criminal justice system. Two main themes are considered: the experiences of children as witnesses to and victims of criminal actions; and the counselling/treatment of children.

Learning Outcomes

• skills in the assessment and identification of disorders specific to children and adolescents;
• to learn how the criminal justice system deals with children as offenders, victims and witnesses.

• The ability to think critically, to analyse and evaluate claims, evidence and arguments, and to reason and deploy evidence clearly and logically;
• The ability to deploy critically evaluated information to practical ends.
