PS2005 - Physiotherapy Applications Across the Lifespan

Enrolment is restricted to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy who have successfully completed BM1041, PS1001, RH1002, RH1004, BM1042, HS1003, PS1002 and PS2004.

This subject is designed to enable students to assess clients, and develop and implement physiotherapy intervention strategies for common conditions encountered across the lifespan. Modules included in this subject include normal development across the lifespan, paediatrics, men's and women's health, health in the workplace and gerontology.

Learning Outcomes

• describe the process of normal development across the lifespan;
• describe the aetiology, pathophysiology, and the medical and allied health management of common conditions encountered across the lifespan;
• explain the importance of managing health in the workplace and coordinating return to work programs;
• describe the complex interplay of chronic diseases, and develop and implement appropriate physiotherapy interventions for management of chronic disease.

Contact hours:	26 hours lectures - 2 hrs of lectures per week 52 hours practicals - 4 hrs of practicals per week 6 hours clinical placement
Assessment:	end of semester exam (60%); presentations (20%); assignments (20%).
Special Assessment Requirements:	Students are required pass the end of semester examination in order to pass the subject. Students are required to complete organised clinical placement, maintain a logbook and portfolio that describes their clinical experience in order to pass this subject.
