This subject examines conflict and dispute resolution theory and practice in cross-cultural contexts. The subject seeks to identify the limits of a Western model of conflict resolution in cross-cultural conflicts. The subject explores cultural and ethnic based conflicts with a view to identifying the points of uniqueness that warrant selection of suitable interventions. Cases and experiences expose students to a range of cross-cultural contexts that one may encounter in business travel or life generally.
Learning Outcomes
- mastery of the skills and knowledge required to undertake critical analysis and evaluation of cross-cultural disputes culminating in the development of appropriate strategies for preparation for, design of and engagement in a dispute resolution process with cross-cultural parameters as a conflict worker;
- demonstrated high level cognitive skills in investigation, analysis and synthesis of complex subject related ideas through research and critical discussion.
