This subject explores the relationships between the various levels of government: freedoms under the Constitution; parliament, judiciary and the separation of powers; taxation and excise duties; Australia's relationship with other countries; the commercial powers.

Learning Outcomes

• an awareness of the significance of the Constitution to legal practice and in everyday life;
• develop an ability to critically appraise political institutions, and acquire an informed view of the role of law in government;
• develop the ability to research and analyse primary and secondary sources;
